Most of Google page one belongs to me for my name, Dave Keys but one particular spot holds out for another. That spot is one I’d been having sporadic appearances on Page one, but another usually takes it. I’m re-orienting my target to my public page on Facebook instead of my personal Facebook page.
Now, I’ll promote the Web Strategies for Dave Keys | Facebook. Dave Keys holds most of page one on Google. An Orange County SEO expert should be able to dominate for Facebook, right?

Orange County, a highly competitive market is the perfect place to ask this question and perhaps to provide a quick answer. Recently a new client read an article on SEO that I sent to familiarize them with Wordpress and SEO techniques, overall. The client noticed the author’s recommendation for the Headspace plugin vs. All in one SEO pack. These plugins represent a portion of an overall SEO strategy for Wordpress but the author claimed a huge surge in their SERP placement based solely on switching from one plugin to the other. To be honest, I’m skeptical that one plugin for a nearly perfect out-of-the-box-for-SEO platform like Wordpress could have as substantial impact as moving someone from page two to the top half of page one of Google. Maybe it was during one of Google’s recent implementations of the real time search algorithms? Maybe it was a change in the site’s traffic due to the discussion of a new topic about this very plugin? I don’t know but I’m trying out the plugin on this relatively less important website in my SEO “farm.” I’ll keep all three of my readers posted on results here.

Orange County SEO and A real time search game changer like Tiger Woods
Orange County SEO is a fairly competitive term in the web development and design market in any area and the OC is no exception. That’s why it surprised me a little to see one of my blogs at the number two spot for a while in Google, even for a lesser term, Orange County SEO expert, a term usually reserved for Steve Wiideman and Brad Fallon’s class of SEO kings. I surmise that it was due to one of the so called, Google Dance occurrences. This is where Google really does a shake-up of their SERPs which is likely even more profound at this point with the introduction of their newly introduced real time search feature. If you want to see what Google real time search is in action, just type Tiger Woods into Google and you’ll see a scrolling section of the results page with the latest tweets, blogs, news, etc. about the Golf Star and his latest troubles.
Orange County SEO by Dave Keys is well embedded and employed throughout my websites as well as for my clients.

Steve Wiideman, the foremost expert on SEO, (if you wonder about whether that’s true, just type “SEO Expert” into Google and there he is in the number one spot) states in his book that the most important and critical phase of SEO is what he calls the Analyze phase in his four-fold approach to SEO, Analyze, Optimize, Develop and Promote. That is so true. I just had to email a client who is working with more than one SEO firm. The folks at brand-x had sent him a list of about 50 or so keyword phrases for his business. Only about 10 of them had any real value for his business. I’m absolutely positive that the next step is going to be a quick mini-campaign on some of the other 40 near zero value keywords so the Brand-X firm can claim “We got you to the top of Google for soooo many of your keywords- success!”
No success. Just a con-game.
SEO is somewhere between blood-sport and a military campaign, or more like the Afghanistan war- it never really ends and you have to stay on it indefinitely if you want to keep the upper hand over your problem.
Business owners, especially small business owners need to carefully and thoroughly analyze their keywords using the readily available and free tools by Google, the Adword Keyword search tool and Google Trends. What’s important and what people are typing into Google and what they are not typing in searches will soon become obvious.
Then the more labor intensive part- analyzing your competition. When you find out what your keywords are, look at the businesses in the top spots in Google and find out what they’re doing to get there. It will be a mix of three things: site optimization, backlinks and traffic. That’s it. Everything else is fluff and noise. You have to beat them by the numbers in all three categories to pull ahead.
