Age of domains can work both for and against you in SEO. A new domain enteres an un-trusted relationship with Google, or worse yet, may have a bad reputation from a previous life. If you found you’re suddenly lucky and were able to buy, say, spam.com, you might just find out that it used to be a… wait for it, spam site! While the pun is painful, the point is real. Investigate anything that seems too good. You could be latching onto a domain name that has been blacklisted by Google for any number of bad practices. You’ll invest extra time getting the damage undone. Old domains can run into problems when you move them to a new host or revamp the site. This is best remedied by placing the site in your Google webmaster account (you don’t have one?) Google: Google Webmaster Tools and get one. Then generate a new sitemap Google: xml sitemap generator, and submit it along with the site in Webmaster Tools.

In both cases they had used the same tool, Web Position Gold. Google’s TOS prohibits this and similar tools that over query the search engine and abuse it’s resources. Be sure to stay away from such software based tools that guarantee top placement via automated processes.
